Strawford is a day opportunity service providing person-centred support for people over the age of 18 with a variety of care and support needs.
Strawford is all on the ground floor with the outside area having accessible pathways, raised beds for gardening, a gazebo, and seating areas.
Strawford has a wide range of facilities including:
- Sensory suite
- Computer suite
- Crafts facilities
- Photography and media equipment
- Music and drama equipment
- Accessible training kitchen
- Fully accessible dining and changing facilities
Strawford provides activities and opportunities to support people to live the life they want to lead. This may include work, education, and accessing their local community. These are delivered through a mixture of sessions on-site and out in the community.
Some of the activities we do that supports this include:
Developing employability skills
- Time keeping, commitment and reliability
- Self-confidence and self-value
- Hygiene and appearance
- Practical general and specific work skills
- Developing communication skills
Promoting community access
- Bus pass applications
- Gym and group memberships
- Advising on developments and needs regarding community access
Safety and independence skills
- Using a mobile phone to get help
- Knowing how and where to find help locally
- Being safe with money and cash cards
- Road safety and travel training
- Promoting wellbeing and good health
Social skills
- Understanding social etiquette
- Being heard, speaking up for your rights and influencing others
- Leadership and team-working skills
